Me, Elsewhere
I added a pop of color to the “elsewhere” links in the right-hand column of my site. The Muxtape-inspired look includes a prominent color from each featured site: Facebook blue, Flickr pink, Hype Machine green, and so on. What do you think? Is it an improvement? Are the colors too distracting? Did I completely butcher the HTML code? Wouldn’t it be cool if Tumblr offered a “poll” post type for things like this?
Maybe you could tone down the colors a bit? Make them blend into the background a tad more so it doesn’t attack you when you’re scrolling down the sidebar. I really like that idea though, it’s neat!
